    Soccer players with number 12

The jersey number 13 is one of the first choice jerseys for players who to get one of the top eleven jerseys but couldn’t get it. Over time, they pick the number 12 and with the hope of changing it later, some become known for it and just leave it, others eventually change it.

This does not, however, mean there are soccer players with number 12 that have become accustomed to the number and even become great players for their club and country. Some names on this list show that the jersey number cut across all fields of play and it is not a jersey for one particular position on the field of play.

Thierry Henry- Arsenal legend, Henry was famous for wearing the jersey number 12 for his national team while wearing 14 at Arsenal. This was, however, a surprise to many as he could have opted to change it over time but like earlier stated, he just became much accustomed to that number.

This means that when soccer players with number 12 are called, Henry can early lead the park and come out. Henry is a world cup winner and European nation’s cup winner with France. He was a key member of the France 2006 world cup squad but they lost in the final of the tournament to Italy in a penalty shootout. Henry is still very regarded and revered at both Arsenal and France.

Mikel Obi- One of the most sort after player after FIFA under 20 world cup in 2005, John Mikel Obi went on to become a superstar for Chelsea after Jose Mourinho was able to get the Nigerian ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson who wanted him at Manchester United also.

When the deal eventually clicked for Chelsea, he was given the number 12 jersey and became one of the soccer players with number 12 at their back and wore the jersey all through his 11 years at the London club. While wearing the jersey, his biggest game happens to also be the biggest game in the history of the club, the UEFA Champions League final where he played the entire match and helped his club win their only Champions League title.

Olivier Giroud- Signed for Arsenal from Marseille in 2012 and stayed at the club for five and half seasons. Olivier Giroud was famous for his super ability in the air and how he uses his body to beat the opposition defenders. He was a key member of the Arsenal team that won three FA cups in recent times under Arsene Wenger before eventually moving out of the club to Chelsea.

Marcelo- When modern Real Madrid history is being discussed, Marcelo’s name will forever be mentioned. Joined the club as a teenager, had competition at left-back with Fabio Coentrao and eventually became the undisputed first choice at the club. His ability to contribute to attack was only second to another Brazilian legend, Roberto Carlos. Marcelo is a beauty to watch with the number 12 at his back and his hairstyle.
